Judith Bassett, QSO, is a graduate of the University of Auckland in History and Law.  She chaired the ASB Trust for 14 years and was a director of ASB Bank. 

Judith was elected to the Auckland Regional Council in 2001 and served three terms. She chaired Auckland Regional Holdings from 2004 – 2010.  In the 1980s Judith was twice elected to what was then the Auckland Hospital Board and she chaired the first Auckland Area Health Board. 

Judith was a senior lecturer at Auckland University and has written books and articles on New Zealand history.
