International Medical Graduate Ready for Work Training Program
The International Medical Graduate Ready for Work Training Programme offers doctors who have
passed the NZREX examination a supportive educational
environment to help smooth the transition into your new clinical
roles. The IMG programme has been designed to build upon your clinical skills and
to utilise adult education principles in guiding you through this transition
into the New Zealand healthcare environment. As a doctor on the IMG programme, you are on the same pay scales as the doctors you work alongside. Yet you have the benefit of additional weekly tutoring and your own ward "buddy" to support you in your first months working in a new health environment.
There are two intakes into the programme every
year. The new intake will start in May 2012. More detailed information about the programme, and how to apply for it, can be found here. We are happy to answer questions you have about the programme and to provide more information. Please contact Pat Starkey

In the following months we were working as House Officers in the wards, but we were an extra HO and with a buddy - a second year HO helping us with getting into the systems . . . (Dr Anna Wojtacha) more"The IMG Ready for Work programme was one of the best things that ever happened to me in my professional career . . . (Dr Robert Wakuluk)
"I think the most important thing it helped me with was interaction with my colleagues and my patients . . . (Dr Jane Li) |
