E rau rangatira ma, tena koutou, katoa

ADHB is one of the largest employers of nurses and midwives in New Zealand.  By joining our team as a nurse or midwife you will be working as a key member of the interdisciplinary team. We work collaboratively and in partnership with Maori to optimise health and independence for our diverse communities.

We offer nurses and midwives the opportunity to practice in a wide variety of practice settings across the hospital community interface.  Our model of nursing care is team nursing and we have defined professional development pathways to accommodate your professional nursing aspirations be that in clinical or advanced practice roles, education, research or management.

ADHB has a robust nursing leadership team whose portfolios span across the organisation.  Key areas of focus for the team in 2007/08 are:

  1. Recruitment & Retention

  2. Improvement & Innovation

  3. Better outcomes

  4. Reduce inequalities

ADHB offers nurses an accredited Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) which supports your nursing career pathway and ensures quality nursing care is delivered to the users of our services. The ADHB Nursing Development Unit co-ordinates the programme and provides nurses with professional support.

We also provide for newly registered nurses a comprehensive New Entry to Transition Practice Programme (NETP). This programme is offered in partnership with the University of Auckland, School of Nursing and Auckland University of Technology for the Paediatric stream.

The Centre for Evidence Based Nursing – Aotearoa (CEBNA) is a partnership between the University of Auckland, School of Nursing and ADHB. The key goal is to promote an evidence based culture in nursing and facilitate the use of the best available evidence to improve nursing practice and health care outcomes.

Thank you for choosing to explore our nursing web site and we hope to welcome you to our nursing team in the near future.
