Description

The Centre for Evidence Based Nursing - Aotearoa (CEBNA) is a joint venture between the Auckland District Health Board and the University of Auckland School of Nursing to ensure that healthcare, teaching and research come together. Links have also been established between CEBNA and  Auckland University of Technology (AUT) through the Starship Research Fellow.

CEBNA undertakes a range of practice-oriented research activities to improve the effectiveness of nursing practice and healthcare outcomes, both locally in Auckland and nationally within New Zealand.

The Centre has strong links with other EBP organisations including the NZ branch of the Australasian Cochrane Centre, New Zealand Guidelines Group and EPIQ (based at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland) with the aim of improving the effectiveness of healthcare practice and enhance patient safety.

Mission

CEBNA's mission is to improve the effectiveness of clinical practice and positively influence healthcare outcomes by synthesising evidence to improve quality and effectiveness in healthcare.

Activities include:

  • conducting systematic reviews

  • disseminating these reviews in user-friendly summary form “Best Practice Information Sheets” 

  • completing evaluation studies on the implementation of the “Best Practice Information Sheets”

  • offering workshops on evidence based practice for nurses and other healthcare professionals

  • undertaking primary research.
