Helicopter Landing PadsThe Helipad Carpark opened in 2001. It is the only carpark building in New Zealand with 2 helicopter pads on its roof. These landing pads are linked to the adult and the children’s emergency departments by a dedicated airbridge.  The helipad carpark provides pay parking for the visiting public and it also has space for staff to park. The carpark building can be accessed from either Grafton road or Park rod entrances. 

Starship children's health and the new Auckland City Hospital buildings are easily accessed from the carpark building.

However for people who find walking difficult there is a hospital hopper bus, which transports people around the key buildings on the site.

Buses

Buses stop on Park Road near the Main Entrance to the hospital.  For details on bus and public transport routes to the hospital please call Maxx on 09 366 6400, or 0800 10 30 80 from the Hibiscus Coast, or check at

Parking

Parking charges apply if you park the hospital grounds (site map).ACH Carpark A

Pay parking for visitors and patients is available in the Visitors' Carpark - Carpark A.
(use the Park Road entrance and follow the signs)
A 5-minute drop off area is outside the main entrance.

Currently the charges are:

30 Minutes - 1 Hour  $3.00
1 - 2 Hours $5.00
2 - 3 Hours $6.00
3 - 4 Hours $7.00
4 - 5 Hours $8.00
5 - 6 Hours  $9.00
6 - 7 hours $17.00
7 - 8 Hours $17.00
Lost Ticket  $18.00
Night parking 9pm - 8:30am $2.00

Parking for disabledpay station

Parking for disabled is available in the visitor's Carpark - Carpark A, and near the Support building in Carpark B, (to reach this area, enter from Park Road and follow the signs to the right.  Access to Auckland City Hospital is through Entrance B and via the shops to the main reception area on Level 5).

Free shuttle bus

There is a regular free shuttle bus (The Hospital Hopper) to take people around the site.  It stops on demand at the Carpark Building A, at the Cancer and Blood Services Building, the Main Entrance to Auckland City Hospital and at the Starship Entrance.

Taxis

A taxi phone is located in the Main Entrance on Level 4, at Level 5 by the shops, on Level 9 and at the entrance to the Emergency Department.  Taxi ranks are located outside the Main Entrance (Level 4), outside the Transition Lounge (Level 4) and at the Starship Main Entrance (Level 1).

St John Ambulance

Please note: There is a charge to you for returning home by ambulance.

  • St John membership covers emergency medical transfers in to the hospital only.

  • In most cases ACC covers accident related transport in to hospital only.

  • Cost: $68.00 (approx.) one way Auckland area.

Transition Lounge

9am - 7pm, Monday - Friday                Ph. 307 4949 ext 25501

Situated on Level 5, inside the main entrance of the Support Building, the Transition Lounge provides experienced nurses available to supervise your care while you wait, and to assist you to your drop off/pick up point just outside. A nurse from the Transition Lounge is usually available to come up to your ward and assist with your transfer to the Lounge.

There is comfortable lazyboy seating, TV, phone, daily newspaper, magazines and refreshments, free of charge to patients. The facility is also available for outpatients, and relatives waiting for patients in day surgery.

For drivers picking up: enter from Park Rd, turn right and drive up the ramp and stop outside the entrance to the ?old? hospital building, walk inside the main doors and turn to your right.

Assistance

There is a limited "drop off" area outside the main entrance.  There will be wheelchair assistance at the main entrance or ask at the 24-hour centre reception desk on Level 5.  Site Ambassadors will be available at the main entrances to the hospital if you need help to find your way.
