Auckland City Hospital

Getting here - overview

The car parks at Auckland City Hospital can be very busy, particularly in the middle of the day and during wet weather. Please consider asking a friend or family member to drop you off or use public transport, go to www.maxx.co.nz for times and services.

The main entrance to Auckland City Hospital is just off Park Road and is clearly marked. To find the main reception desk from the main entrance, take the escalator or a lift up to Level 5. At the top of the escalator on Level 5 you will find a waiting area with couches, as well as a reception desk.

Transition Lounge

Patients can wait in the comfort of the Transition Lounge after discharge while they are waiting for relatives to collect them. The Transition Lounge is located on Level 5 of the Support Building near Car park A. There is a free 15 minute drop off and pick up in car park A (opposite the Transition Lounge). There are also two car parking spaces, (marked in blue) opposite the Transition Lounge, where relatives can park for 5 minutes while they collect their family member.

 

Emergency Department vehicle access

For urgent or critical care, drivers should follow the signs to the Emergency Department which is clearly signposted from the entrance.

Buses

Buses stop on Park Road near the Main Entrance to the hospital. Detailed bus and public transport routes can be found at MAXX or call Maxx on 09 366 6400, or 0800 10 30 80 from the Hibiscus Coast

 

Taxis

A taxi phone is located in the Main Entrance on Level 4, and at the entrance to the Emergency Department. Taxi ranks are located outside the Main Entrance (Level 4).

 

Cycling

Cycle storage is available for visitors in the entrance to Car Park A at Auckland City Hospital. Bring your own lockable chain. You can check out cycle paths around the area at Auckland Transport’s website.

 

Waitemata shuttle service

This shuttle provides transport assistance from people living in the Waitemata DHB area with an appointment at Auckland City Hospital.  For more information please click here (PDF) or call 0800 809 342 or (09) 426 0918. 

 

Parking

There are two car parks at Auckland City and Starship Children's Hospital. Visitors and patients to Auckland City Hospital should use Car park A. This is situated at the front of the hospital and accessed from Park Road. There is also a free 15 minute drop off and pick up in this car park. Visitors and patients to Starship Children’s Hospital should use Car park B behind Starship, which is accessed from Grafton Road or Park Road. Disabled car parks are provided in both car parks.

 

Disability parking and wheelchairs

Mobility parking is available in Car park A, which is clearly marked from the main entrance. Wheelchair assistance is available at the main entrance, or ask at the reception desk on Level 5.
