The Board is responsible for setting ADHB-wide
policy and strategy, and for evaluating progress.
On 10 December 2007, the Board ADHB has had
for the last three years handed over the reins to the new Board.
As an elected body, the Board’s
decision-making is highly transparent. Meetings are open to the
public and board agendas and minutes are published on this
website. In addition, the Strategic Plan is subject to a public
consultation process.
The Board is supported by three advisory
committees and the chief executive officer, Garry Smith. Garry
Smith manages the implementation of policy decisions and
employment within ADHB.
The advisory committees bring recommendations to
the Board for consideration and final approval or rejection. The
committees are the:
 |
Community and Public Health Advisory
Committee:
Advises on the mix and range of services that will best
meet health improvement and independence objectives.
|
 |
Disability Support Advisory
Committee:
Advises on issues facing people with disabilities and how these
can best be managed by ADHB.
|
 |
Hospital Advisory Committee:
Advises on the performance of Auckland City Hospital and
Greenlane Clinical Centre and related services. |
These committees are advisory only although the
Board may specify and delegate authority to committees to act on
specific matters as appropriate.
