Intragam

• Contains antibodies to the normal range of infections to which New Zealanders are exposed.
• Prepared by chromatograph separation of large pools of human plasma and is free from the risk of known viral infections.
• Given intravenously.

Parental Consent

• Informed consent required.
• Parent signs Agreement To Treatment form (CR0111).

Prescribing of Intragam P

• Intragam P is prescribed on the fluid balance chart.
• It is also recorded in patient’s multidisciplinary clinical records.
• Usually given over 1-3 hours.
• Intragam for neonates comes in 3 grams in a 50ml bottle.

Ordering

• After consultation with Medical Officer at NZBS, ordered on NZBS requisition form (111F01802).

Indications and Dose

1. Sepsis in low birthweight neonate
   1-2 doses 250mg/kg/dose.
2. Treatment of immune thrombocytopenia
   1gm/kg as a single dose.
3. Other indications.
   See product insert.

Storage

• In Blood Bank.
• Protect from light.
• Refrigerate at 2° to 8°C.  Do not freeze.
