Introduction

Exchange Transfusion is a procedure performed within Newborn Services for the treatment/correction of anaemia, hyperbilirubinaemia, and to remove antibodies associated with red blood cell haemolysis. This document also covers partial exchange for treatment of polycythaemia. This document details policies/recommended best practices of Exchange Transfusion in Newborn Services.
