Use an Imed pump. Clear total volume infused. |

2 |
Prime the line slowly ensuring all air is removed. |

3 |
Set a realistic 24 hour volume. |
|
4 |
Set rate prescribed and check with 2nd RN. |
|
5 |
Document rate and total fluids, given hourly. |
|
6 |
Check infusion site 1-2 hourly. |

7 |
Double signatures are
required on the IV fluid balance chart showing the checking of:

Pall filter and bag of fluid are both dated clearly when fluid/lines are changed. |

9 |
Lipid syringe and line are covered with tin foil to protect from light. |

Ensure fluids going through CVL/LL/UVC/UAC are heparinised. Not Lipid or drug infusions. |
