The aim of these video tours is to familiarise all families who may potentially use the Newborn Service with the NICU surrounds and general care. The antenatal wards have a copy of both videos to show potential parents at a time that is suitable for them.

Physical tours of NICU are no longer routinely offered to families who are likely to have their baby admitted to NICU.  However, the Nurse Specialist Family Liaison will meet with families on the ward who fit the following criteria to answer any further questions after they have viewed the appropriate CD:

  • Potential birth of baby at 28 weeks gestation or less.

  • Infants who are known to have congenital abnormalities.

These video tours require Windows Media Player.

Level 3 tour
(<32 weeks gestation)

  • Duration: 8 minutes 46 seconds.

  • Size: 21.2 MB

Level 2 tour
(32 weeks gestation and greater)

  • Duration: 7 minutes 15 seconds.

  • Size: 13.4 MB
