EXPEDITED REVIEW PROCESS

ALL projects submitted to ethics must be registered at the Research Office as per ADHB Research Policies and Procedures.

1 - Complete the ADHB Observational Research Review Form [ADHB application form / guide ]

If your research has costs and revenue, begin to prepare information required to develop a research budget e.g. consumables, person time, laboratory, pharmacy.  Ask your service/research accountant for help to complete the Research Budget Template / (guide).

All budgets must be endorsed by the service/research accountant.  Endorsement can be made via e-mail or signature on the budget hard copy.

This is not required for Audits. However, it is your responsibility to confirm with your Clinical Director (or similar) and Manager that they are happy to cover any costs incurred through the undertaking of your audit.

2 - Obtain Approval at Departmental/Service Level

For Audits and no costs Observational Research - signature of the Clinical Director only
For Observational Research (costs) – signature of the Clinical Director, Service Accountant and the Service Manager is required.

Signatures can be provided either as
a. Original signatures on the ADHB Observational Research Review Form
b. E-mail confirmation / endorsement from the appropriate people to the Research Office. The e-mail must have the project number and title within the message body so as to ensure the confirmation is allocated to the correct project
c. Electronic signatures on the ADHB Observational Research Review Form

If you are undertaking a review across two clear disciplines or service areas (i.e. Children oncology and Adult oncology) then obtain signatures of both Clinical Directors. The signatures required reflect the service you are undertaking your research/audit within not the service, department you belong to.

If the Principal Investigator is also the clinical director of the department/service where the research is to be undertaken, Section B will require the signature of the person the clinical director reports to, e.g. clinical leader / medical director.

If the ADHB contact person is also the clinical director of the department/service where the research is to be undertaken, Section B will require the signature of the person the clinical director reports to, e.g. clinical leader / medical director.
