Role of the General Surgery Registrar
Expedite surgical and radiological intervention.
Confirm the secondary survey findings.
Perform invasive examinations.
Responsibilities:
1. Needle thoracocentesis
2. Intercostal drainage
3. Pericardiocentesis
4. Arrest external bleeding
5. Urinary catheterisation
6. Diagnostic peritoneal lavage (DPL) and/or FAST scan
7. Review secondary survey
8. During logroll, examine back and perform rectal examination
9. Arrange CT, angiography if indicated
10. Arrange OR if appropriate and gain consent
